In the UK, the Rank Group has announced that the Managing Director of its Blue Square Interactive gaming business, Martin Belsham, is to step down after over five years in charge.
Maidenhead-based Rank acquired Blue Square in 2003 and the division, which includes online bookmaker BlueSq.com and virtual poker room BlueSqPoker.com, saw revenues of $88.7 million last year off 320,000 active members.
Rank revealed that it has begun the search for a replacement with Ian Burke, Chief Executive Officer for Rank, assuming direct operational management of the business in the interim.
'On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Martin for his efforts in developing the group's interactive gambling capability over the past five-and-a-half years,” said Burke.
“During that period, he has been instrumental in transforming Blue Square from an online and telephone sportsbook to a broad gaming business with particular strength in online bingo.'
