Those of you who have followed poker for a few years will no doubt have come across Jamie Gold, the man who banked the first $2 million WSOP jackpot in 2006. But who is Jamie Gold and what do we know about him?
While he seems to have been around the poker scene for years he is still only 39 having being born on the 25th August 1969 in the USA. But Jamie Gold has more than just poker on his list of skills as he is also an American TV producer and a talent agent – both of which he has made a great name for himself. But when did his love affair with poker begin?
To say that Gold had a lucky break in his early poker days is an understatement as he bumped into Johnny Chan and Chris Moneymaker while producing a TV program. He struck up a great friendship with Chan and he was actually taught the game from scratch by Chan although we are not sure whether he had the game in him or Chan was just a great teacher!
However, it was his WSOP 2006 win which pushed him to the front pages when he was alleged to have reneged on an income sharing deal with Bodog.com, instead deciding to pocket the full prize pot for himself.
