While the authorities look to try and push through a vote in favour of Ohio’s first ever casino the vote has been hijacked by a number of wealthy parties who have a vested interest either way. It will come as no surprise to hear that the main adversary to the scheme is an ad campaign by the name of ‘No on 6’ but the fact that this is being financed by Penn National, the owner of a nearby casino in Indiana has upset a few close to the situation. On the plus side we have Lakes Entertainment, which has a heavy interest in Tribal casinos, which has put aside $20 million for the yes campaign.
The whole situation is getting way out of control and with the vote approaching it has been revealed that the ’No on 6’ campaign has been censored for using incorrect information in one of its ads. The incorrect information related to a suggestion that all profits could be moved out of the state to leave nothing for local investment, something which is plainly untrue.
Surely there must be some kind of future cap on advertising campaigns as the situation seems to be getting very much out of hand.
