Bwin Launches In Italy

Ongame subsidiary of Austrian giant becomes latest to enter new market with its P5 Poker Engine.

Thursday 23rd October 2008

Austrian online gambling provider Bwin Interactive Entertainment AG has become the latest company to launch a poker platform for the Italian market following changes to the local legal environment. The Italian online poker network was launched through its Ongame Network Limited subsidiary on the new P5 Poker Engine, which promises an improved playing experience on a technical platform that is flexible, easily managed and upgradeable. Bwin revealed that this marked the first network commercially available fully integrated with the new P5 Poker Engine and stated that Italian authorities would monitor it in full compliance with new regulations. “The Italian network is powered by the new P5 technology, which offers unrivaled performance, reliability and speed coupled with great graphics and usability,” said Kevin O’Neal, Press Officer for Vienna-based Bwin. “The P5 Poker Engine represents a shift in mentality as much as it represents a shift in technology. It is completely modular and provides scalability without risking stability.” With this move, Bwin becomes the latest online poker provider to enter the Italian market following others including iPoker, Boss Media and PokerStars.com. It also revealed that it was currently in talks with other operators about joining its new Italian online poker network utilizing the P5 Poker Engine.
