World Poker Tour (WPT) Enterprises Incorporated has announced that Thomas Flahie, who was instrumental in the growth of social networking site MySpace.com, has joined the company as its interim Chief Financial Officer.
WPT stated that Flahie has over 25 years of experience in various areas of finance and administration with both public and private companies including eLabor Incorporated and Balance Bar Company. Most recently, he served as the Chief Financial Officer for publicly traded Intermix Media Incorporated with responsibilities over leadership of finance, accounting and human resources. While there, he helped refocus the company on its core businesses and returned it to profitability while building the MySpace.com website.
'We are very pleased to welcome Tom to the World Poker Tour team,' said Steve Lipscomb, founder, President and Chief Executive Officer for WPT.
'Tom has a wealth of finance and accounting expertise and a particularly strong management record with an emphasis on growth businesses. We look forward to his valuable input and hands-on participation as we right-size our operations and continue to focus our business on our growth initiatives of television sponsorship, ClubWPT.com and WPT China.'
Flahie began his career at Arthur Andersen in Los Angeles where he served as an Accounting and Audit Partner. He is a Certified Public Accountant and past Chairman of the internal control standards committee of the National Indian Gaming Association.
'This is an exciting and dynamic time for WPT Enterprises and I look forward to working closely with the company's executive team and the board of directors to realise the potential of the WPT Enterprises’ assets and brand,' said Flahie.
