Championship footballer Robbie Blake's recent bizarre goal celebration was a reference to his bad luck at the poker table, it has emerged.
After scoring against Coventry City on Tuesday night, the Burnley striker pulled down his shorts to reveal a pair of bright red underpants emblazoned with the phrase 'Bad Beat Bob'.
Blake told the Sun that he has recently been the victim of several bad beats - when a player is dealt strong cards but loses the hand unexpectedly - during poker games with his team-mates.
"When we play on the bus, I think I am miles ahead and it turns out the only card someone needs to beat me, they get," the former Leeds United man stated.
He added that he was given the underwear by Burnley defender Clarke Carlisle, who challenged him to reveal all if he managed to get on the scoresheet.
Burnley won the game 3-1 despite falling behind to a first-half penalty from Elliott Ward.
