Is Yarmouth about to gets its own touch of Monte Carlo
Monday 27th October 2008
While the likes of Yarmouth and Monte Carlo are miles apart they are literally universes apart when it comes to the weather, the life style and the wealth of those who live there. But what might they soon have in common?
It has been reported that Yarmouth councillors are on the verge of agreeing to a new £35 million casino and leisure complex down at the town’s Pleasure Beach resort. If the plan is confirmed then it will open the door towards Yarmouth being the UK version of Monte Carlo with a massive casino, if the group behind the plan mange to win a large Casino licence which is up for grabs in the Town. The licence itself is like gold dust as it is only one of eight which were granted around the country under the last gambling licence change debacle.
Slowly bit surly we are seeing the emergence of a new casino industry in the UK, one which can advertise, one that can process memberships much quicker and one which will no longer be in the shadows. However, before we all rush of to buy our poker kits for Christmas there have been a number objections to numerous schemes around the UK so until these are heard there could be little progress for some time.
