Maria Karlsson has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the online betting and gaming businesses Bet24.

Maria Karlsson has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the online betting and gaming businesses Bet24. She has worked at Bet24 since 2005 and has been Deputy CEO since January 2008. Maria Karlsson replaces Lotta Lindquist-Brosjö who is leaving the company after two years as CEO.
Maria Karlsson joined Bet24's owner, the international entertainment broadcasting group Modern Times Group MTG AB, in 2004 as management trainee, the same year as MTG first invested in Bet24. She has worked within Bet24 in various positions becoming Chief Financial Officer in 2006 and Deputy CEO in January 2008.
During MTG's ownership Bet24 has gone through a rapid development, and became profitable in 2007 with sales of SEK 386 million, gross profit of SEK 122 million and operating profit of SEK 10 million. In 2008 the business has had a healthy sales growth of 29% for the first nine months ending 30 September - and healthy increase in gross profit, also by 29%.
'Maria has an extensive knowledge of the business as she has been both CFO and Deputy CEO. In her roles she has also been very much involved in the transformation of Bet24 during the past years and she will be able to take Bet24 to the next level.
'A lot of changes have happened within Bet24 since Lotta joined; including both re-focusing and re-organisation. With Lotta as CEO Bet24 has become a profitable growth company.
