Slot machine legislation set to increase worldwide numbers
Wednesday 29th October 2008
We have seen some major changes in the regulations governing slots in countries across the world, from Australia to the US and back to the UK, over the last few years. It seems that slowly but surely we are seeing changes to the laws governing the maximum numbers which can be located in any one operation. So why has the slots industry suddenly become the ‘in’ sector at the moment?
There has been a growing interest in both online and offline slots with the US as ever leading the way but as we saw with Poker, where the US leads the rest follow. We have seen a massive increase in the jackpots available on online slots and this has been followed by more and more offline ventures linking up for record jackpots.
Progressive jackpots are the name of the game and seem to have brought the sector closer together with each member of any one progressive jackpot network benefitting from the ever increasing numbers. While we will probably see a fall off in numbers if the economic downturn continues for some time yet, it looks as though many punters are happy to chance their loose change for the possibility of bagging the big one!
