As we move towards this weekend's Stanford Twenty20 game between England and a Superstar Team, with a pay check of $20 million to the winner, the circus which has been surrounding the tournament appears to be moving out of control. It is unfortunate that the media circus surrounding the event has taken away much of the limelight from the most lucrative cricket game of all time.
While England are red-hot favourites to take the game, the slow wicket, injuries to the England team and a feeling of general dissatisfaction have appeared in the last few days. There had even been concerns that the Texan billionaire who is funding the event had actually failed to secure the $20 billion prize cheque.
Thankfully the event is now secure and will go ahead at the weekend as planned with England odds-on favourites and the Stanford Superstars available at just over evens. As we approach the big money pay day there seems to be some discontent within the England camp which could well play into the hands of the Stanford Superstars on the big day.
With a cheque for $1 million available to each player on the day from the winning team, and "just" $1 million between the four players left out, there is still much to play for.
