Eco-conscious gamblers may like to consider California for their next holiday, as one casino in the state is now claiming to offer green gaming.
Harrah's Rincon in San Diego enlisted the help of Lime Energy, a Illinois-based energy efficiency company, to reduce the carbon footprint of its casino floor.
As a result, normal lighting previously used by the venue in its elevators, downlights and signs was replaced by light emitting diode (LED) technology to help Harrah's consume less energy.
The LED system is expected to cut the casino's energy use by two million kilowatt-hours per year, knocking approximately $200,000 (£122,438) off the annual fuel bill in the process.
Brendan O'Kane, property operations manager at Harrah's Rincon, said: "This is really a great win for all of us because not only are we saving money here at the resort, we are reducing greenhouse gas emissions by taking less electricity from the grid."
Visitors to the casino will find a 12-table poker room, slot machines numbering more than 1,600 and live table games such as blackjack, baccarat and pai gow.
