Manchester United leave late it against Middlesbrough
Tuesday 30th December 2008
When Dimitar Berbatov joined Premiership champions Manchester United earlier this season there had been high hopes for the Bulgarian superstar. However, while it has taken some while for the moody striker to settle down he came to the rescue of his teammates in a frustrating fair against Middlesbrough at Old Trafford this evening. The game appeared to be on the brink of fading into a boring draw when the Bulgarian popped up in the penalty box and slammed home his third goal of the season. The Old Trafford faithful were then singing his praises and looking forward to the next phase of a substantial catch-up period.
The world club championship has left Manchester United three games adrift of their fellow competitors in the premiership and while they have the firepower and strength in depth to make up these games and take the points it will be a real struggle. If they win all of their games in hand they will move into second place just one point behind Liverpool and ahead of fellow competitors Chelsea. However, there are some tough games to come over the next few weeks and we could see the leadership of the premiership change hands on a number of occasions. But who will win the premiership title?
