Online poker tournament site Zosoz, popular due to being legal for US players, has shut down after only two months of doing business. The closing comes after allegations that the cheques sent to winners of poker tournaments bounced.
The site charged a subscription of $19.99 and claimed to offer players a chance to win a share of $3.5m in tournament prize pools annually. However, the site has now said that “circumstances beyond our control” caused the closure.
When the site opened in October, a spokesperson said: “What makes Zosoz.com different from other online poker clubs is that we give away the most online poker tournament sweepstakes prizes, daily $1,000 tournaments, weekly $10,000 tournaments, monthly $100,000 tournaments and a yearly one million dollar tournament.”
All subscription fees were, according to the site, fully refunded to players.
