Who will take this year's FA Cup?

Wednesday 31st December 2008

The FA Cup has been something of a very difficult competition to forecast over recent years with a number of their larger teams using the tournament as a way to blood young players for the future. This has backfired astoundingly for a number of clubs such as Manchester United and Arsenal leaving the way for some of the less-fancied teams to push ahead. This week sees the next round with Chelsea favourites at 4.3/1 and Manchester United at 4.6/1 leading the way with the third favourites being Arsenal at 7.2/1.

It would appear that the gamblers in the UK have sided with Chelsea on this occasion due to the ever increasing backlog of games for the Manchester United set up. However, do not discount Liverpool at 8.2/1 or Aston Villa at 16.5/1 as these two clubs are very much in form and on the up. It will be interesting to see if any major transfers go through in the January transfer window as this could affect the outcome of the FA Cup.

There are only 14 clubs under odds of 100/1 and these include Fulham, Sunderland, Blackburn, Newcastle, West Ham, Middlesbrough, Portsmouth, Everton, Tottenham and Manchester City as well as the other clubs we mentioned above. Who will be victorious in what is the oldest football competition in the world?
