Tennis sensation Andy Murray has begun 2009 how he finished 2008 with an impressive win in the semi-final of the Abu Dhabi exhibition tournament. He beat James Blake in his opening match of 2009 and came back from one set down against Roger Federer to claim his place in the final against Rafael Nadal. So what does 2009 hold for the Scottish tennis sensation?
While Andy Murray has long been put forward as the great British hope for world tennis it has taken him a few years to find the form which many believed he was capable of. Initially he seemed to suffer from a lack of physical strength in the five set games which dominate the men's tennis circuit and then he had to overcome a series of mental hurdles against the likes of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Now Murray believes he can beat anybody in the world on his day and 2009 looks like being one of the best UK hopes for a homegrown Wimbledon champion.
It was during the second half of 2008 that Andy Murray really came into its own and he has managed to learn from his mistakes and move on to bigger and better things.
