Las Vegas casinos warm to the idea of online gambling
Monday 5th January 2009
Despite concerns that a change in the US regulations, which effectively banned online gambling, would make the situation in the off-line casino industry much worse, a number of Las Vegas casinos have come forward with their support for a change in law. It would appear that many off-line casinos are ready to implement their own online options which will give them the chance to reach out into the wider market as attendance figures for casinos continue to fall.
The overall US gambling market is enormous and prior to the ban the online arena was the largest in the world with substantial growth in evidence. The sudden change in regulations hit the industry very hard but many now feel it is time to revert back to the norm. As we have mentioned on a number of occasions, the Obama regime would appear to be positive towards a potential change in the law but whether this is top of his agenda remains to be seen.
A change in regulations which would assist off-line casinos in increasing their online presence would not only save many casinos from potential financial ruin but also keep the US poker community happy. With very little in the way of cheer around at the moment any light relief would be well received.
