Alex Ferguson will today be sitting back wondering if he is found the Achilles heel of his counterpart Rafael Benitez who is the manager of Liverpool football club. Earlier this week Ferguson issued a number of accusations against the Premier league regarding the timing of fixtures for this club, refereeing and other elements of the game which he believes are unfair. Rafael Benitez had remained fairly quiet on the issue (despite suggestions that Ferguson had accused Liverpool of lacking "bottle") until today!
The Liverpool boss used his press conference ahead of tomorrow's game to suggest that Ferguson is the only manager in the Premier league who is allowed to criticise referees and the Premier league without getting into trouble. He reeled off a number of accusations and factual observations which he has been building for some time against his arch enemy. There is no love lost between the two managers but this is not something which will affect Ferguson.
Despite the fact that Liverpool are still top of the league they are now third favourites to win the premiership title at odds of 2.7/1 with Chelsea at 2.2/1 and Manchester United favourites at 1.64/1. This has the makings of a battle royal and something which will last until the last few games of the season!
