Tom Dwan, the young poker the star, has today received acceptances from three prominent poker players with regards to his $1 million challenge. The cocky young poker player is offering the of sum of money to anyone that can defeat him playing 50,000 hands at stakes of at least $200/$400. In summary, if Dwan finished just one dollar up, his opponents would pay him $500,000 each although if his three opponents all finished ahead of him he would be forced to shell out $1.5 million.
The players who have taken him up on the offer include David Benyamine, Patrik Antonius and Phil Ivey each of whom have a very good standing in the game. The three opponents between them own six World Series of poker bracelets, two world poker tour titles and appeared at six final tables during the 2008 World Series of poker event.
The challenge has certainly caught the eye of the poker community and is sure to attract significant media and advertising attention. While Dwan stands to lose $1.5 million if he finishes in third place he will no doubt already be organising a number of lucrative media and publicity contracts with regards to the game. Game on!
