Scottish tennis sensation Andy Murray has today beaten Roger Federer pushing himself into the final of the Doha tennis tournament where he could walk away with a golden eagle shaped trophy, a golden ceremonial sword and some £120,000 in cash!
Murray now faces American hotshot Andy Roddick on Saturday which would be a perfect warm-up for the Australian Open. Yet to win his first grand slam, many now believe 2009 could be the year which sees Murray push himself even higher up the rankings and possibly take the number one spot. He now seems to have the magic sign over Roger Federer having beaten him on five occasions out of their last seven meetings. However, Murray is well aware that this event is nothing compared to the Australian Open and the riches this would bring if he was successful.
Many of Murray's critics have commented upon his calmer attitude on court, a massive increase in physical stature and a much needed buildup of stamina. In his earlier games when he first joined the circuit it was evident that he was not in the same shape as many of the top players and was often unable to last a five set match. However, those days have long gone!
