Poker fans looking forward to the World Series of Poker 2009
Sunday 11th January 2009
While we have only just kissed goodbye to 2008 and the final table of WSOP 2008 many players are now looking forward to the 2009 tournament. The tournament itself will be held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas with registrations opening very shortly. This will be the 40th annual WSOP event and while there are high expectations for 2009, it will do very well to match the money and excitement created by the 2008 tournament.
It is ironic that an event such as WSOP has come more to the fore over the last 12 months even know the worldwide economy is in a severe downturn and the poker and gambling industry in general is struggling. This is testament to the attractions and income producing capabilities of what is definitely the most popular poker tournament of all time. It has literally lasted for decades and grown as the poker industry itself has grown, which is a large part of the reason it has been so successful.
As the registrations for the event open up we will no doubt be hit with a deluge of forecasts and figures for the 2009 event but who will grab the crown this year?
