Former head of home furniture retailer is to take charge of Swedish gaming monopoly from February.

Swedish gaming monopoly Svenska Spel has announced that Meta Persdotter has been appointed as its new Chief Executive Officer and will assume her duties from the first day of next month.
Persdotter has served as the Chief Executive Officer for home furniture retailer Duka AB for the past two years. Before that, she was employed as Sales And Marketing Manager for Stadium and also worked for Ikea for a decade, the finals years as a store manager at Kungens Kurva in Stockholm”We''''re very pleased to be able to present Meta Persdotter as Svenska Spel''''s new Chief Executive Officer,” said Margareta Winberg, Chair for Svenska Spel.
”She has an excellent background in commerce and broad experience of developing both organisations and individuals as well as customer service and various consumer-oriented business operations. These experiences, combined with excellent personal leadership qualities, will be extremely valuable to Svenska Spel.”
In August, the national gaming monopoly announced a 3.6 percent drop in net profits to $419 million but reported that online revenues from poker had increased 12.6 percent while casino revenues grew by 9.6 percent.
”Svenska Spel is a very strong brand with a presence in Swedish society that few other companies can match,” said 44-year-old Persdotter.
”This is a position that we must be proud of, at the same time making sure that we improve it as best we can. I want Svenska Spel to continue to represent a healthy balance between exciting, entertaining games and measures to prevent various kinds of gaming-related problems.
