In a rather bizarre manner it has been revealed that the Playboy Casino and Playboy Poker sites will close to business on 29 January 2009. The announcement has not yet been made official but it appears that a client e-mailed the company direct, after rumours started to appear on Internet, and received an e-mail suggesting that both sites will close for business at the end of January. The sites themselves are part of the Cryptologic Network which has taken the casino and gambling industries by storm over the last few years.
When you consider that Playboy Gaming, the parent company of Playboy Casino and Playboy Poker, only added the casino site and poker site in 2007, this is something of a disaster for the company. There had been high hopes for Playboy Gaming with the mix of glamour and gambling seen as perfect for attracting new lasting customers.
It is not known whether the service supplied by Playboy Gaming is at fault or the company has invested insufficient funds into marketing and promotions but whatever the reason it seems as though Playboy will no longer have an online gambling facility. Each and every area of the entertainment industry appears to be feeling the pinch and only those which have a long-term history in the game seem to understand the needs of customers even in these difficult times.
