When a Mississippi lady dropped a few dollars in the slot at her local casino she was absolutely thrilled when the machine posted a $1 million jackpot win. After getting over the excitement of a $1 million she was then flabbergasted when the casino refused to pay out claiming that the maximum payout was clearly posted as $8000. Even know the casino admitted that the $1 million jackpot message was displayed and a message was sent to the head office, they then refused to pay out.
The Mississippi gaming commission found in her favour and believed that she should have been paid her $1 million jackpot. However, when the case was taken to the State Supreme Court last Wednesday an attorney for IP Casino claimed this was a computer error and the jackpot was not valid. Remarkably the judge in the case has ruled in favour of the casino and against the player who will not receive a $1 million jackpot as suggested by the gaming commission.
While slot machines are becoming ever more popular there is a growing controversy over the way in which a number of casinos have evaded paying out large jackpots due to "computer errors". Surely if the jackpot is won and the $1 million message is displayed on the screen that should be the end of the story?
