Andy Murray sets the tennis gambling world alight!
Friday 16th January 2009
The onward march of Andy Murray in the world of tennis has attracted a number of special tennis bets such as whether Murray will win a grand slam, how many grand slams he will win this season, his season end ranking and the odds on him breaking into the top three. We are seeing substantial money on these Andy Murray specials with odds which can vary.
Even though Murray goes into the Australian Open as favourite the market is still very much split as to whether he will win a grand slam event this year with odds of 92/100 for him to win a grand slam and 86/100 for him not to win a grand slam event. He is 1.7/1 to win one grand slam event this year, 6.4/1 to win two, 29/1 to win three grand slam events, 39/1 to win four events and 1.04/1 to win no grand slam events this year.
Elsewhere he is 2/1 to be number three in the world at the end of 2009, 2.1/1 to be number two and 2.5/1 to be number one. It seems as though 2009 could be the year of Andy Murray although how the year pans out depends upon the young Scots prodigy himself.
