The very fact that Jermaine Defoe and Harry Redknapp recently left Portsmouth for Tottenham added extra spice to a game which was already set to explode. Tony Adams, Harry Redknapp's prodigy at Portsmouth, took on his old boss the only way he knew how with a very attacking formation which proved lucrative in the early stages of the game. Portsmouth took the lead when David Nugent finally got his name on the premiership scoring charts in the 59th minute. However, this was the start of a serious revival by Tottenham.
From the moment when Portsmouth scored Tottenham was on top and on 70 minutes the one and only Jermaine Defoe managed to bag a quality finish and level the game. Jermaine Defoe took some serious abuse from the Portsmouth fans who will never forgot the way in which he left the club after being there less than 12 months. Harry Redknapp to a certain extent escaped the wrath of the crowd but the likes of Sol Campbell also came in for some abuse from the fans.
This point moves Tottenham four places higher and out of the relegation places but when you consider that only six points separate Hull in ninth place from West Bromwich Albion in 20th place this could be a serious battle to avoid the dreaded drop.
