G-Tech get okay for their bid to run Mexican online lottery

Mexican Ministry reverse decision to impede company’s bid

Thursday 12th August 2004

G-Tech Holdings Corporation have successfully had their contract to run an online lottery in Mexico reinstated. The deal was originally formed in January of this year, then cancelled in April after unsuccessful competitors filed protests alleging the G-Tech bid to be non-compliant. The Mexican Comptroller Ministry has now reversed that decision, giving the company the go ahead to continue with their Mexican venture. New negotiations on a long-term contract will now commence.

G-Tech is huge information technology company who’s primary customer is the lottery industry. The annual revenue of the company now exceeds US$1 billion, and the company boasts 5,500 staff based in 45 countries.

President and CEO of G-Tech, W. Bruce Turner, has said of the decision: “We are very pleased with the Comptroller's decision. It has always been our belief that GTECH submitted a fully compliant bid that is in the best interest of the lottery. GTECH is proud of the important role we have played in making Pronósticos a highly successful lottery and we look forward to negotiating a new long-term contract.”

The contract is based upon the supply by G-Tech of equipment and services for the new online lottery system to the Mexican based organisation, Pronosticos.
