As we approach February 2009 the schedule for the World Series of poker 2009 event has been released to the press. It has also been revealed that TV ratings for the 2008 event were up a massive 46% from a year earlier with high hopes that 2009 will again see an increase in the power of the brand.
The first part of the tournament is scheduled for 26 May to 15 July with the venue being the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. As we saw for the first time in 2008, the final table will again be delayed until November time with the big bucks at stake from 10 November. In order to commemorate the 40th anniversary of WSOP there will be a $40,000 buy-in event which is sure to attract the big names in the industry!
Surprisingly the four re-buy events which we saw in 2008 have been taken off the agenda, something which was alluded to some weeks ago. However, there will be a record number of 57 WSOP bracelets on offer this year including ten $10,000 buy-in events, seven $1,500 buy-in events and a $50,000 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. championship.
While it will be a challenge to build on the exposure and success of WSOP 2008 there are very high hopes for this year’s event!
