Betcom.com Still Running Book on the Apprentice
Betcom.com says it is keeping the market open on reality TV show despite insider betting controversy
Saturday 23rd October 2004
Betcom.com has announced that it will continue to take bets on popular reality TV show, The Apprentice, despite suspicions over insider betting forcing many sportsbooks to close their books. Last month suspicious betting patterns were spotted when a significant number of people from New Hampshire area placed bets on two particular contestants with a number of online bookmakers. The show is pre-recorded and it was feared that punters may had insider knowledge as to the identities of the winners.
However, says Betcom.com’s Jimmy Mason, to paraphrase 'The Donald': 'Where others see problems, we see opportunity!'
'At this point it could be a friend, of a friend, of a friend type- scenario. We really have no idea. The bettors bet them big and they bet them hard, which has all of us in the industry very suspicious. Somebody knows something!' Mason concluded.
