Interactive gaming firm NetPlay TV has signed a distribution deal with STV Group, the biggest commercial broadcaster in Scotland, to launch the nation’s first live interactive television casino on a national terrestrial broadcast channel.
London-listed NetPlayTV operates a number of live interactive television programmes including SuperCasino.com and ChallengeJackpot.com that allow viewers to place real cash bets on casino and bingo events including a roulette wheel spun by an actual croupier and blackjack.
“Concluding this deal with STV is a major milestone for UK broadcasting,” said Guy Templer, New Business Development Director for NetPlay TV.
“NetPlayTV is the market leader in the delivery of licensed interactive gaming and we are pleased to have signed this major deal with Scotland’s largest commercial terrestrial broadcaster.”
NetPlay TV revealed that its new interactive television casino would be broadcast live during the weekly late night schedule on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays beginning next month. STV reaches over four million viewers every month and the launch is set to be supported by additional web, cinema and press advertising.
“I am extremely pleased to have signed this landmark deal with STV,” said Martin Higginson, Chief Executive Officer for NetPlay TV.
“It has always been our aim to broadcast our interactive television services on a major television channel. NetPlayTV is uniquely positioned to offer terrestrial broadcasters sustainable, fully regulated, revenue generating programming. We believe demand from broadcasters for these services will increase significantly over the coming months.”
NetPlay TV’s service is fully regulated by the UK Gambling Commission and it regularly pays out over one million pounds in winnings each day.
“The recent OFCOM ruling in June of 2009 has allowed us to explore new revenue generating options and we have moved quickly to take advantage of this opportunity to offer an exciting new service to STV viewers,” said David Archer, Managing Director Of Ventures for STV.
“NetPlay TV has been able to provide us with a fully regulated service that its players clearly enjoy and we are very pleased to be working in partnership with them.”
