A new study from GamingSupermarket.com has revealed that female UK online players are joining their American counterparts in shunning bingo in order to enjoy a game of roulette.
Roulette has long been the most popular form of online gambling for American women but this has never been the case in the UK where bingo has traditionally reigned supreme.
However, research from GamingSupermarket.com has found that bingo’s long established ascendancy could be about to be challenged with a surge in UK female players exploring the world of online gaming through roulette.
“We all knew the bingo boom would not last forever and, although I think it is far from over, I think the cracks are starting to show,” said David Merry, Editor for roulette information portal LiveRoulette.co.uk.
“Roulette provides women with the chance to win serious cash very quickly, so it is easy to see why they would be attracted. The birth of live roulette on television has also prompted interest from women browsing through the channels and ensures that women feel they are part of something live and communal much like they get with bingo currently.
“Although we are relishing the increase of visitors, a lot of people do not understand that roulette is a harsher form of gambling and you can lose a lot more money a lot quicker.”
However, GamingSupermarket.com concluded that, despite the premiere of a number of live roulette television channels on Sky and Freeview in the UK, it is unlikely that another game would ever be able to match the popularity of online bingo among British women.
