A 20-year-old Scottish man received a belated Christmas gift of £100,000 on Monday after becoming the first person to correctly pick the scores in six English Premier League soccer matches at SkySports.com.
Jonathan Kilpatrick from Bo’ness was taking part in Soccer Saturday's Super Six competition at SkySports.com and was indebted to Everton's Marouane Fellaini after the Belgian netted in the 85th minute of his side's one-all draw with Sunderland.
Astonishingly, the East Lothian man wasn't the only contestant to correctly pick six scores as Mark McCann from nearby Coatbridge also got maximum points. However, the Lanarkshire contestant lost out on the tie-break question, which requires players to predict the time of the first goal of the six selected matches. Kilpatrick’s prediction of eight minutes was the closest to the time of the actual first goal, which was scored by Sunderland striker Darren Bent in the 17th minute of his side's clash at the Stadium Of Light.
“I'm extremely shocked but one thing's for sure, Marouane Fellaini is my new favourite player in the Premier League,” said Kilpatrick.
Soccer Saturday's Super Six competition is free to enter and offers entrants the chance to win £100,000 by correctly predicting the scores for six selected matches each week.
“It's fantastic that, after 18 months and lots of near misses, we finally have a Super Six jackpot winner,” said Dale Tempest, Director Of Public Relations for Sky Bets Sports.“For young Jonathan Kilpatrick this is surely the best Christmas present anyone could ever wish for.”
