After defeating Croatia’s Marin Cilic in the semi-finals, British tennis player Andy Murray is into the men’s final of the Australian Open tennis championship where he will face favourite Roger Federer this weekend.
Glasgow-born Murray lost to Federer in the men’s final of the 2008 US Open in New York but his recent victory in Melbourne has seen him become the first British man to reach more than one Grand Slam final in the Open era.
Federer has won the Australian Open on three previous occasions and goes into Sunday’s final at odds of 1/2 with Bwin.com to triumph again while BoyleSports.com show 3/5.
Widely considered to be one of the best male tennis players in the history of the sport, the 28-year-old Swiss competitor is being given at odds of 4/7 to win this weekend by 888Sport.com, BlueSq.com, Coral.co.uk and StanJames.com while Bet365.com, ExtraBet.com and WilliamHill.com show 8/13.
Betfair.com is offering 61/100 on a Swiss victory.
Bet365, SkyBet, BetFred, SportingBet, Coral and William Hill are all offering 5/4 on a Murray victory.
Murray is often considered to be the most talented British male tennis player since Fred Perry even though he has not yet managed to replicate the former’s eight Grand Slam titles. Stan James is going with odds of 11/8 on the Scot lifting the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup trophy this year while Bwin, Expext and BoyleSports show 11/10.
Betfair.com and BetDaq.com currently have odds of 71/50 on Murray beating Federer in Australia.
