Leading online poker site PKR.com has picked up its first honour of 2010 after winning the Online Poker Operator Of The Year prize at the recent International Gaming Awards in London.
The Alderney-licensed site stated that the International Gaming Award's Online Poker Operator Of The Year prize recognises the online operator that has made the most headway in the real-money poker sector during 2009. It revealed that operators are judged according to originality, growth and scale, usability, payment processing and marketing with special consideration given to the most innovative operators and those with a unique or outstanding brand.
“It is a wonderful achievement for us to be named Online Poker Operator Of The Year,” said Malcolm Graham, Chief Executive Officer for PKR.com.
“We are absolutely delighted to be honoured by the International Gaming Awards in this way.”
PKR.com stated that its ‘unique blend of advanced three-dimensional graphics, immersive gameplay and enhanced community focus through its new integrated social media platform’ saw it beat off competition from other sites such as PokerStars.com, FullTiltPoker.com and PartyPoker.com.
The annual International Gaming Awards took place on January 25 at London's Millennium Gloucester Hotel And Conference Centre with nominations made across a range of categories. Judges were selected from leading industry professionals, journalists, analysts and representatives from the Awards' main sponsors.
