It might have taken twelve hours to decide a winner but the first event of this month’s Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) is now history with champion ‘SolidGoldman24k’ having taken home $162,468.
This is the 15th edition of the popular virtual poker series from FullTiltPoker.com and the festivities began on Wednesday evening with a $216 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament.
The event boasted a one million dollar guarantee but the number of players meant that there was an overlay to push the total pot up to $1,129,200 for a top cash prize of $193,093. However, the two best players cut a deal meaning that neither would get the full amount with runner-up ‘PHHSKid99’ taking home a very respectable $175,000.
Featuring a wide variety of tournament types until February 24 including shoot-out, knock-out, turbo and super turbo events, every FTOPS XV competition is to be hosted by a Full Tilt Poker pro while satellite games are running now with buy-ins starting from as little as 50 cents or 50 Full Tilt Points.
In total, 720 players made it into the money on Wednesday evening with ‘Zerhyn’ taking home ninth spot for $11,856 followed by ‘lindleymise’ in eighth for $16,938. In seventh was ‘iq278’ for $24,277 while ‘uNDeFeaTaBLE1’ almost lived up to their name and finished in sixth for $37,263. Rounding out the final table was Benjamin ‘TheStein’ Zamani in fifth for $54,145, ‘SoulCollector22’ in fourth to walk away with $72,268 and ‘MiltOnTilt’ earned $95,982 for finishing in third.
Similar to last year’s FTOPS XIV final, the main event for the 15th edition will take place on February 24 from 6pm New York time and is promising at least $2.5 million in guaranteed prize money.
