American mixed martial arts league promoter Bellator Fighting Championships has agreed an exclusive sponsorship alliance with online poker site UB.net designed to leverage the two companies’ synergistic demographics.
Chicago-based Bellator Fighting Championships has broadcast its tournaments nationally in the US for almost a year but recently signed a ground-breaking television alliance with Fox Sports Net, NBC and Telemundo set to begin on April 8.
The new sponsorship deal will see Bellator introduced to the tens of millions of online poker players from around the world that visit UB.net every month. In addition, UB.net will benefit by increasing awareness of its brand among the millions of mixed martial arts fans available through Bellator.
“We’re super-excited to tie the new UB.net logo to Bellator, the hottest mixed martial arts success story of 2009, and are proud to partner with them in their sophomore year,” said Paul Leggett, Chief Operations Officer of Tokwiro Enterprises, the owner and operator of UB.net.
“Last year, we watched from the sidelines as the new kid on the mixed martial arts block delivered some of the most explosive moments in televised fighting sports history. This year, we’re elated to jump in the cage as an active player in the Bellator phenomenon while exposing the UB.net brand to more than 250 million homes across the US.”
UB.net is set to have a ‘prominent presence’ on all Bellator broadcasts and online at Bellator.com alongside ‘substantial on-site presence’ at each of the firm’s events in 2010. For its part, Bellator will have a ‘major presence’ on UB.net while the online poker site will also sponsor tournaments awarding players with the opportunity to win cage-side seats.
“Bellator’s fans have great synergy with UB.net’s multi-million player group,” said Bjorn Rebney, founder and Chief Executive Officer for Bellator.
“They’re young, successful and drawn to exciting fast-paced competition. This alliance will be great for both companies and we are thrilled to be partnered with UB.net.”
