Intralot, the Athens-based developer and supplier of gaming and transaction processing systems, has announced that its Brazilian subsidiary has won an international tender to operate lottery games in the state of Minas Gerais for the next six years.
The Greek firm stated that the contract also has an option for a further six years with its Intralot Do Brasil subsidiary initially set to launch a fast Keno-type game followed by additional numerical products over an online network of 2,500 points of sale.
Minas Gerais is the fourth largest by area of Brazil’s 26 states and has a population of some 20 million people to make it the nation’s second most populated after near neighbour Sao Paulo. It is also the second richest with a nine percent share of the overall economy and a gross domestic product per capita reaching approximately $4,500.
“We are very pleased to start this co-operation with Intralot to offer to the citizens of Minas Gerais a new portfolio of lottery games,” said Ernani Campos Porto, Managing Director for the State Lottery Of Minas Gerais.
“Through this co-operation, we will be able to offer exciting games and raise funds for the benefit of the state and its people.”
Intralot stated that the entire network should be established within the next two years with it being granted complete control of the project including all related services and existing infrastructure.
“Our new agreement in Minas Gerais has increased further our strong position in the Latin American region and particularly in the promising Brazilian market,” said Constantinos Antonopoulos, Chief Executive Officer for Intralot.
“Together with the State Lottery Of Minas Gerais, we will work hard to offer exciting games that will attract players, increase lottery sales and, consequently, the amounts distributed to players.”
