PARIS/LONDON, March 26, 2010: French national lottery operator la Française des Jeux (FDJ) announced today that it has acquired leading betting software provider Laverock von Schoultz (LVS). The London-based business is one of the gaming industry’s leading suppliers of betting platforms and comes as the French online betting market opens up to competition.
LVS which employs around 40 people, has gained a strong reputation working with some of the biggest names in the industry and recently co-operated with FDJ to put in place its Advanced Gaming Platform which offers state-of-the-art fixed odds sports betting to both online and retail customers through their website and network of 26,700 retail terminals. The FDJ and LVS teams are now working together to build a new live betting platform.
The acquisition will help build on FDJ’s technological strengths reinforcing their position as a leading provider of integrated sports betting products. It will also allow FDJ to offer leading edge, secure betting products to customers both online and through their retail network.
Christophe Blanchard-Dignac, Chairman and CEO of la Française des Jeux said: “This is an important acquisition in the context of the opening of the French online betting market to competition.
“By buying this company, La Française des Jeux reinforces its technological control on the overall activity - sports betting and lotteries – in the stake of the safety of our customers.“
Simon Ordish, CEO of LVS said: “We’re delighted that La Française des Jeux has chosen to strengthen even further the successful relationship we already have. It will enable us to take the business to the next level and exploit new opportunities.
“The acquisition means we can both grow and prosper at a very exciting time for the betting and gaming industry.”
FDJ’s range of sports bets increased by 24 per cent in 2009 resulting in sales of €783 million which is around eight per cent of turnover. Online bets have increased by 61% to €43 million. La Française des Jeux aims to reach €1 billion
