Online bookmaker embarrassed over odds on deceased horse

UK bookmakers, Capitalsports.com, attempted to disprove the old adage that ‘there’s no such thing as a dead cert’ last week by offering odds on a horse called Behrajan. What they failed to realise, however, was that they were, quite literally, flogging a dead horse, and that Behrajan’s sad demise over a year ago after a fall at Warwick made him something of a rank outsider for the 3:30 at Chepstow.
Capital Sports who claim to “act decisively, keeping one step ahead of our rivals,' blamed the gaff on an ‘administrative error,’ quickly adding that none of their customers, quite wisely considering the circumstances, backed the late Behrajan. Alan Turner, acting managing director, said: 'One of our traders would have entered Behrajan's odds by mistake, and they were removed as soon as the error was noticed.”
The error was accompanied by further mistakes offering odds on two horses for the Grand National who aren’t running. 'The odds were only there for a day before mistakes were noticed,' said Turner. Talking of the National, we think Shergar will romp it this year by the way...
