Playtech Limited, the international designer, developer and licensor of software for the online, mobile and land-based gaming industries, revealed that it has provided MeccaBingo.com with a new game based on the popular television quiz programme Blockbusters.
Made available through its recently purchased Alderney-licensed gambling platform provider, Virtue Fusion Limited, Playtech stated that Blockbusters Bingo is its latest branded offering and is based on the show first broadcast in the UK in the 1980s.
Blockbusters went on to be screened into British homes for nearly two decades while the new online bingo game follows its same format and sees traditional bingo numbers replaced by letters on 20 trademark yellow hexagons per ticket.
“Branded online bingo games are among the most popular on MeccaBingo.com and I am sure that Blockbusters Bingo will be another success,” said Angus Nisbet, Head Of Gaming for Rank Interactive, which is the parent firm for MeccaBingo.com.
“Playtech’s Virtue Fusion has created a fantastic product and I am positive it will strike a chord with fans of the show and be well-liked by new players too.”
On top of its standard game, Blockbusters Bingo also contains the special Gold Run feature for those that have been left with only one number to go when the final prize in won. Additionally, the Community Blockbusters Bingo Jackpot will be awarded if the first five called letters contain B, I, N, G and O in any order.
“Virtue Fusion has a long-standing relationship with MeccaBingo.com,” said Bob McCulloch, Chief Executive Officer for Virtue Fusion.
“We recently created Britain’s Got Talent Bingo for the site, which was very well received, so we are delighted to have been asked to provide this game as part of its exclusive agreement with Blockbusters.”
