In America, the state of New Hampshire has postponed the launch of an online gaming website after lottery officials received criticism for failing to educate lawmakers and other public officials about the games being offered.
“Since there's a lot of confusion, a lot of misunderstanding and a lot of mis-education in the marketplace, the Legislature has given us a chance to re-educate folks,” said Charlie McIntyre, Executive Director for the New Hampshire Lottery Commission in an interview on WMUR-TV in Manchester, New Hampshire.
“You can't buy online, you can't sell online, you can't bank points online, there's no interaction like that with the computer system. It's merely just a display, just an interesting way to look if you won or not.”
The New Hampshire Lottery Commission revealed that PlayNowNH.com would not offer online gaming but act only as a portal for players to discover whether they had won. However, lawmakers questioned whether marketing for the site misled players while stating that lottery officials should have asked them to approve the new games and possible revenue sources.
Speaking to WMUR-TV, Marjorie Smith, a democrat State Representative and Chair for the New Hampshire House Of Representatives’ Finance Committee said “They really should have shared that information with the legislature.
“The House and the Senate were in special session struggling to find enough money to be able to deliver essential services.”
PlayNowNH.com isn't now expected to launch for a number of weeks.
