Intralot, the Athens-based developer and supplier of gaming and transaction processing systems, has announced that its subsidiary in New Zealand, Intralot NZ Limited, has extended its deal with that nation’s Department Of Internal Affairs.
The extension will see Intralot provide an integrated gambling platform to complement the existing electronic monitoring system already in place in New Zealand’s 19,000 non-casino gaming machines.
Intralot revealed that the new agreement will run until 2020 while the new integrated online management system would oversee gambling activities in the country’s 1,470 pubs and clubs to improve integrity and the transparency of grants to the community.
“The electronic monitoring system provided the Department Of Internal Affairs with a significant system to improve compliance with the Gambling Act of 2003 and the integrated gambling platform project will expand our compliance capabilities further,” said Mike Hill, Gambling Compliance Director for the Department Of Internal Affairs.
“There will also be benefits for the wider community through the provision of more transparent information about the gambling sector.”
Intralot introduced its electronic monitoring system in early-2007 to track gaming machine operations in pubs and clubs and ensure the integrity of games and the accurate accounting of funds. It stated that the first results from its new integrated gambling platform will be seen next year when the Department Of Internal Affairs and sector in New Zealand move from a paper-based system to electronic licensing.
“Several factors were involved in our decision to develop the integrated gambling platform with Intralot including financial, leveraging off existing and proven systems, the early delivery of benefits to the sector and comprehensive, locally-based project management,” said Hill.
“We have each built on our experience with the development and running of the electronic monitoring system to produce an excellent and lower risk deal for both sides and for the wider community.”
