Gibraltar, 14 July 2010 – Ongame Network introduces Essence, the principle behind Ongame Network’s new online poker business model which values cash game players across the network in an entirely new way: according to their style of play. Today’s player valuation shift changes the online poker industry’s aging business model forever, ushering in a healthier poker ecosystem for Ongame Network’s partners.
Essence is a real-time algorithm that is first being applied to network-wide cash games. From 15 July 2010, the Essence fuelled business model captures the truer value of all players by factoring in style of play and relative performance over the previous 90 active days. Essence adjusts the player mix by making it more profitable for network partners to attract and retain the most valuable players while still being able to welcome everyone to the online tables.
This valuation change is endorsed by Ongame Network’s partners who support the long-term sustainability it brings to the network. The generation of player points, the common currency on which partners’ loyalty programs are based, is now linked to the Essence model.
“Breaking new ground is Ongame Network’s natural territory. Style of play gives a truer reflection of an online poker player’s worth. Our Essence powered business model leads the industry by using this new valuation to embrace all players for the benefit of all network stakeholders,” said Martin Lerby, Head of Ongame Network.
“Ongame Network’s approach to player valuation is refreshing and is one of the many reasons Betfair chose to join this poker network,” said Daniel Svard, Head of Betfair Poker.
“Being able to welcome all kinds of players to all kinds of games is what Betsson is all about. Ongame Network enables us to do this,” said Pontus Lindwall, CEO of Betsson.
Essence accounts for how players interact with Ongame Network’s poker ecosystem including game and level choice, frequency and timing of play, opponent and table selection, pot contribution and playing speed – in other words, style of play.
Essence has a wider scope and will be used to drive future poker offerings, opening new opportunities for Ongame Network and its partners. For more information about Essence, visit www.ongamenetwork.com
