London will be the global capital of the poker world in September as over 100 events including a dozen non-gambling poker-orientated occasions come to town offering players a total estimated prize pool of well over ten million pounds.
The fun commences from August 30 with the inaugural London stop of the World Poker Tour before continuing on September 11 with The English Poker Open while the 15-day World Series Of Poker Europe tournament will begin on September 14 from the Casino At The Empire in Leicester Square.
As if this weren’t enough, the fourth edition of the two-day Poker In The Park festival will take place from September 2 at London’s Leicester Square with up to 20,000 people expected to attend while the month will also see the debut of The British Poker Awards, which will honour British and European poker players for the first time with an open-to-the-public awards ceremony and pro-am tournament.
Finally, the month is also set to feature additional events including Poker Academy tutorial lectures and seminars, pro-player autograph sessions, a private Bluff Europe Rocks concert, charity tournaments, parties hosted by celebrity players and the inaugural Balla Strip Poker championships.
As well as the big events, local card rooms and casinos throughout the city have joined forces to offer their own special tournaments, satellites, cash games, player hosted parties and poker academies, which means that there will be something for everyone over each day in September.
A full calendar of the events taking place in London this autumn will appear in the forthcoming issue of Bluff Europe and Poker Europa magazines while an online schedule is now available at BluffEurope.com and LondonPokerFestival.com.
