Leading online betting and gaming provider Bwin Interactive Entertainment AG has announced a two-year sponsorship agreement that will see Italy’s second-tier Serie B professional soccer league change its name to Serie Bwin.
The 22-team league was organised by the all-encompassing Lega Nazionale Professionisti from 1946 but a split last year saw two separate governing bodies formed with Milan-based Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie B looking after the second-tier while Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A has responsibility over the top-flight.
“We are delighted to be working alongside the new Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie B in this exciting new adventure,” said Paolo Di Feo, Chief Executive Officer for Bwin Italy.
“Bwin is continually active in high-end sports sponsorship and this will continue at the international level. Today, with the advent of Serie Bwin, we are facing a very exciting new challenge giving us real contact with local situations.”
