Leading poker publication Bluff Europe has announced that current WBF world heavyweight champion Evander ‘Real Deal’ Holyfield will be in the ring for its fourth annual Poker In The Park festival this autumn.
Poker In The Park is Europe’s largest poker event and is set to take place on September 2 and 3 from London’s Leicester Square with well over 20,000 fans expected to attend.
Holyfield is a big fan of poker and will be in attendance to help demonstrate the software behind innovative site RealDealPoker.com, which replicates a live game by replacing the customary random number generator with actual cards.
The American boxer earned his ‘Real Deal’ nickname after winning multiple championships in both the heavyweight and cruiserweight divisions and warrants a place in sports history after defeating the likes of Mike Tyson, George Foreman and Larry Holmes. The 47-year-old also took home a bronze medal in the light heavyweight division at the 1984 Summer Olympics and holds a professional record of 42 wins with 27 knock-outs for only ten defeats and two draws.
“We are thrilled to have a superstar like Evander on board for Poker In The Park,” said Michael Caselli, Editor-In-Chief for Bluff Europe.
“We’re used to having the most famous players in poker drop by but Evander’s presence really illustrates the synergy between poker and mainstream sports and the exciting growth of poker in general.”
