In America, leading broadcaster ESPN has announced that its coverage of this year’s World Series Of Poker (WSOP) tournament will begin on Tuesday with two hours dedicated to the $50,000 buy-in Poker Players’ Championship.
Coverage of the event, which took place on May 28 and saw 116 of the most decorated players in the game generate a prize pool of $5.6 million, will begin from eight o’clock in the evening New York time hosted by Lon McEachern and Norman Chad.
The Poker Players’ Championship is a mixed event that tested players in eight disciplines including limit and no-limit hold'em, pot-limit Omaha and seven-card stud. Each competitor hoped to walk away with the $1.5 million first prize along with a coveted WSOP bracelet and the title of best all-around player.
The final table was set following four days of competition and included a pair of brothers, Robert and Michael Mizrachi, for only the second time in the history of the tournament. However, the event saw stiff competition in the form of 2008 WSOP Europe champion John Juanda, two-time bracelet winner Daniel Alaei and high-stakes cash game specialist David Oppenheim.
