London-based online and land-based gaming giant William Hill has announced the departure of its Sponsorship And Public Relations Director, David Hood, after 18 years ‘by mutual consent’.
According to a report from The Guardian newspaper, Hood, a former conditional jockey, introduced a number of new innovations into William Hill’s business that encouraged the expansion of the bookmaker's sponsorship portfolio.
“We would like to thank him for his contribution to the company,” read a brief statement issued by William Hill.
Hood was responsible for initiatives such as the 'greyhound versus horse' and 'greyhound versus pigeon' contests to promote the firm’s sponsorship of the Greyhound Derby. However, the newspaper reported that his ‘public antipathy towards betting exchanges’ had not always ‘endeared him to some within the sport’.
“I've had 18 years there and it is the right time to move on now,” said Hood.
“I've left by mutual agreement and I'm leaving a good team behind me.”
