Skybet to launch improved interactive betting service with Channel 4’s 4Interactive
Monday 16th August 2004
SkyBet has signed an agreement with Channel 4 to bring a new interactive betting service to its digital horse racing viewers. From Saturday, punters will be able to access the service, which, SkyBet says, is a superior package to the old AtTheRaces.
Dale Tempest of Skybet told the Racing Post: “The old Attheraces put a lot of people off because it was slow and clumsy and they couldn't get on in time, so we've made some severe redesigns.
“It will take about two or three minutes to set up an initial account, but once that has been done it will take approximately 20 seconds to place a bet. Our aim is to make the process as quick as phoning up or going online.”
With the new more efficient service punters won’t have to take their eyes off the action: it includes a ‘picture in picture’ feature so that the top right-hand quarter of the screen will continue to show racing coverage, with the remainder showing all the wagering info a punter could want.
Skybet customers can log in through their existing TV or Internet accounts. Skybet says there are plans to take the service to cable viewers in the near future.
