Former Dragonfish boss Gabi Campos set to take over in October.
Wednesday 28th July 2010
Leading online poker room PokerStars has a new CEO. Gabi Campos, who left 888's business to business division Dragonfish last month, will take on the new role at the beginning of October replacing father and son founders Isai and Mark Scheinberg who will become chief technical officer and chairman respectively.
Campos, a former Software Team Leader at Amdocs Israel and Managing Director of Avaya Israel, was well placed for a move after some excellent results at Dragonfish. The business to business division provided $51.3 million of 888Holdings' $246.7 million operating income over 2009, a 33 percent year-on-year rise. First quarter figures this year were equally impressive with operating income up 16% on the previous year. Campos was also instrumental in securing a major contract with US casino operator Harrah’s Entertainment Incorporated for Caesar’s-branded online casino and poker sites. Just prior to his departure Campos announced the renewal of a pair of online bingo software licensing deals with operator CashCade Limited and leading site CostaBingo.com.
Campos is expected to visit PokerStars locations in the Isle of Man and Costa Rica prior to his official start date.
David Zerah was announced as Campos' replacement at Dragonfish earlier this month.
