NHBPA releases initial details of deal with Simultech
Deal being formed to help aid off shore betting on American racing
Tuesday 27th July 2004
In the US details have started to be released of an agreement being forged between the National Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association and SimulTech, who will provide a site that allows off shore gamblers to place bets on American racing. The plan has been devised by a third party, Stevenson and Associates, a consultancy firm who have a three year contract with the National HBPA.
The National HBPA revealed that they believe tens of millions of dollars are being lost in revenue because of current problems with unregulated simulcasting of races, as well as signal piracy. The hub they are planning to develop would be available to the Caribbean, Central and South America and potentially the South Pacific.
Although a location for the hub has not yet been settled, it is expected to be launched this Spring. Further details of the deal underway, can not yet be released as the two organisations also have a confidentiality agreement existing between them. When the final agreement has been reached and put in place, more information about the plan will be made available.
